About Us
Dallas Area Romance Authors, Chapter 56 of Romance Writers of Americaź was founded in 1987. Today DARA supports more than 160 published and unpublished writers of varying subgenres through education and fellowship. Our membership includes novice writers as well as multi-published, award-winning, bestselling authors. We strive through dedicated efforts to raise community awareness of our organization and our authors. Member benefits include:
- Monthly meetings in a comfortable hotel setting.
- Professionally-presented programs focusing on the craft of writing and the business of publication.
- Advance registration and a discounted fee to the annual limited-seating Dreamin' in Dallas conference featuring agents, editors, and other industry professionals.
- Critique services by published authors.
- A monthly newsletter that provides industry updates, informative articles, and recognition of our members' accomplishments.
- Publicity for our published authors through a periodic bookfair, our website, and a monthly e-publication that is sent to area booksellers, librarians, and readers.
- Online networking between meetings.
